While my hands feel full at the moment, I can't remember the last time my firstborn unashamedly grabbed my fingers and clung to my side. And so I know that one day soon there won't be a single little hand left in need of mine. Before I kno it, I'll be watching my own not-so-little-ones walking their own paths. Until then, I'm going to try to enjoy every step!
Walk With Me
Right now my tiny feet are always on the go.
They run and jump and play, as you already know.
But my footprints won’t stay little, for soon I will be grown,
And my busy little feet will blaze a trail all of their own.
So take my hand while I am small and stroll the road I trod.
Point me to the path that leads straight to the heart of God.
Teach me to stand securely in righteousness and grace,
To set my eyes on Jesus and faithfully run the race.
Show me how to walk according to God’s word
So that my steps are humble and salvation is assured.
While my feet are growing, and I’m still within your care,
Guide me down a godly path; embrace my steps with prayer.
Then when this journey’s over
And my walk with you is done,
The footprints that I leave
Will make you proud that I’m your son.
